Everyone knows SF loves its libations. This is mixology country, the land of Cocktails, new and old, with recipes born from the times of the Barbary Coast to todays micro-gastronomy mixologist spectacle. Whether you like it neat or fancy, it’s never hard to find a place to cater to your specific taste in San Francisco. With only 47 square miles, the city boasts over 3,000 establishments that serve alcohol (beer, wine, and liquor).

We’ve collected some figures from a range of SF bars, clubs, and lounges to figure out what San Franciscans like to drink the most — including where, what, when, and who.
These numbers are estimates of the majority for entertainment purposes only.

Special thanks to our contributors like Blackbird SF, Madrone Art Bar, Homestead, The Lookout, Laszlo, Pilsner Inn, and others.
